Rashid Sesay

Board member

Rashid Sesay is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sierra Leone to the United Arab Emirates, India, and Bangladesh. He also serves as dean of the African Group of Ambassadors in the United Arab Emirates.

Based in Abu Dhabi, Ambassador Sesay represents the interests of the people of Sierra Leone in the countries under his portfolio, ensuring strong bilateral and diplomatic relationships, providing consular services, and promoting international relations in trade, development, health, education, and culture.

Prior to his current position, Sesay had a long career in international and community development. He served as director of programs for Africa and Asia at Heifer International, based in the United States. He was actively involved in the design and implementation of the organization’s operational policies, strategies, and development initiatives, with a particular focus on enhancing resilience among smallholder farmers and resource mobilization including strengthening relationships with donors. Previously, he was a poverty coordinator in the Development Assistance Coordination Office, Vice-President’s Office of Sierra Leone.

In his early career, he was a consultant for World Vision Sierra Leone and Oxford Brooks University in the UK, and an aid worker in other organizations both in Sierra Leone and in Ghana.
