Jonathan Hill is the Senior Director for Strategy and brings broad experience in the international development sector at the organizational and project levels. Jonathan specializes in strategy, finance, operations, and business development. In his strategy role, he leads the planning, management, and measurement of Counterpart’s 3-year strategy to support communities as they work to advance democratic governance, women’s empowerment, and food security. He facilitates technical market sub-strategies and assists proposal teams to design technical approaches and programmatic partnerships. He also supervises the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning function, covering proposal design, project support, and evidence-based organizational learning.

Prior to joining Counterpart, he worked for eleven years at the global development company DAI and four years as the Founder/Owner of Hill Global Development LLC through which he provided short- and long-term consulting services. At DAI, he held positions spanning project management, business development, strategy, contracts & compliance, corporate finance, and project accounting. This included nine years based in Washington, DC supporting USAID, World Bank, and private sector clients, and two years based in London supporting DAI’s global portfolio of U.K.- and E.U.-funded aid programs. As an independent consultant from 2017-2021, he supported international development NGOs, companies, and projects to improve processes, increase efficiency, diversify revenue, and win new business.
