Susana Grau Batlle
Director, Global Programs
Susana Grau Batlle currently works as Director of Global Programs at Counterpart International. Prior to joining Counterpart, from 2012 to 2015 she worked with USAID in Afghanistan, where she served as a regional technical advisor, subject matter expert, and deputy team lead. She oversaw USAID elections assistance during the political transition of the 2014 presidential and provincial council elections and during the post-electoral reform process. Her contributions also targeted the broader efforts to ensure women’s political participation are fully integrated in the formulation and conduct of U.S. foreign policy.
Ms. Grau Batlle has also worked in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa with the United Nations Development Program / Bureau for Development Policy, UNICEF, the World Bank, and a variety of grassroots organizations. She concentrated on humanitarian programs, demobilization-disarmament and reintegration of soldiers, social integration of marginalized groups and support of political processes in post-conflict and fragile states. Susana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Education, two Masters degrees in Diplomacy & International Relations and Political Science, and a Master of Law degree in Humanitarian & Human Rights Law. She is a fluent speaker of Catalan, Spanish, and English, and has a basic knowledge of French and Portuguese.
