Lianne Romahi

Vice President, New Business

Lianne Romahi serves as the vice president of new business, responsible for leading business development and growth at the organization. Over the last five years, she has improved the quality and competitiveness of Counterpart’s business development practice.

For over a decade, Romahi has worked as a business development professional in Washington, D.C., for medium-sized nonprofits. She has worked on capture, proposal management, proposal writing, and cost preparation for USAID, the State Department, USDA, and World Bank opportunities. With a strong record for winning proposals, Romahi brings a unique perspective to business development, having served on numerous program management and evaluation roles, including as acting chief of party prior to her business development experience. She has also worked at the grassroot level in Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. This experience included the establishment of a social enterprise, Fair Trade Jordan, with a group of development practitioners and community mobilizers that resulted in notable achievements identified as leading practices by the Global Environmental Facility.

Romahi believes that solutions to more equitable living lies in the hands of local governments and local communities working together. It is this belief that drives her work at Counterpart.

Lianne’s country experience includes Afghanistan, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Niger, Philippines, Syria, Sudan, and Thailand.
