Julie Claveau is Chief of Party for the Turi Kumwe project in Burundi. Specializing in peacebuilding and youth empowerment, she has 14 years of experience as Country or Regional Representative in Burundi and the Great Lakes Region. In her career, she designed and managed over 30 projects and fundraised over $10 million from a wide range of institutional donors and foundations. Championing learning, gender integration, social inclusion and conflict-sensitivity to maximize impact on communities, she has significant experience building the capacity of local actors in a complex environment. She previously managed Counterpart’s Youth for Peace Building in Burundi I (phase 2) and II projects. A native French speaker, she is fluent in English. Julie holds a B.A. in International Development Studies from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) and a M.A. in Conflict and Sustainable Peace Studies from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Leuven, Belgium).
