Carole Abourached is currently backstopping Counterpart McGovern-Dole projects in Mauritania and Senegal. She brings technical expertise in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), water resources management, food security, and environmental science.  Carole has seven years of experience in international projects oversight and seven years teaching experience. She has managed implementation and research projects in 22 countries in America, Africa, and the Middle East.

Ms. Abourached joined Counterpart in October 2019 and was previously teaching Environmental Science at the University of the Potomac and supporting WASH and health projects in Africa and Latin America at Medical Care Development International. Prior to those two roles, Carole worked at World Vision, where she led testing of innovative water treatment technologies and assisted in managing WASH and food security programs in Africa.  Before that, she conducted research on agricultural water management, wastewater treatment and renewable energy at Oregon State University.

Carole is fluent in English, French, and Arabic, and intermediate in Spanish.
