The COVID-19 pandemic has presented the global workplace with many unique challenges. For Counterpart International, the inability to host summer interns, an opportunity we look forward to every year, has prompted us to get creative. As such, we are happy to welcome our first set of all-digital summer interns, Jenny Sobnosky, Meaghan Thomas, Ryan Greensfelder, and Sarah Kuhns.
Jenny, Meaghan, Ryan, and Sarah come to us (virtually) from the University of Dayton. They will be supporting various departments and programs during their internships.
Jenny Sobnosky
Jenny was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. She is a rising senior at the University of Dayton, studying Human Rights Studies with minors in Political Science and pre-law. Jenny has a passion for service and human rights advocacy.
She is also currently employed at the University of Dayton Human Rights Center, where she works on initiatives to support immigrant and refugee rights. Jenny will graduate from the University of Dayton in 2021 and is exploring graduate school options to further her education and skills in human rights work.
During her internship, she will be supporting the office of the President and CEO.
Meaghan Thomas
Meaghan is currently completing her undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a concentration in business. Meaghan serves as fundraising chair of her sorority. Being part of a sorority has given Meaghan many volunteer opportunities, including tutoring children who have recently come to the U.S. as refugees.
Meaghan will be joining us remotely from Annapolis, Maryland. Meaghan is an avid sports fan who loves spending time outdoors and traveling. She is very excited to be joining the team and cannot wait to meet everyone (virtually)!
Meaghan will be supporting the PCBG Mozambique project team.
Ryan Greensfelder
Ryan is currently completing his undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton with a double major in Economics and Philosophy. His work with the Dayton Covoc Scholars cohort allows him to identify the needs of communities and bridge connections across municipalities and socio-economic backgrounds. Ryan also serves as a math tutor on campus in the Upward Bound program which serves aspiring first-generation college students. He hopes to pair his thirst for knowledge with the mission of Counterpart.
Ryan will be joining us remotely from Mason, Ohio. Ryan has a love for classical music and is an avid player of the string bass. He hopes to see many smiling faces over Microsoft Teams and looks forward to engaging discussions with our team.
Ryan will be supporting the office of the President and CEO.
Sarah Kuhns
Sarah is a rising senior Political Science and Philosophy double major at the University of Dayton. During her undergraduate career, she interned for the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO). Other notable achievements include the creation of a Paid Family Leave policy for the University of Dayton as an intern with the University’s Women’s Center.
This is Sarah’s first internship experience in international development, but she is looking forward to using the skills she has learned in the past and developing new skills. Sarah also hopes to learn more about international development and determine if this is a field that she would like to pursue after her graduation next spring.
Her favorite things to do (especially during this time) include reading, drinking coffee, tending to her house plants, and being with her dogs!
