Counterpart Celebrates Pride Month

June 22, 2021

During Pride Month, we recognize the resilience and determination of the many LGBTQ+ individuals who are fighting to live freely and authentically. For all of the progress that has been made, there are many communities around the world in which LGBTQ+ individuals still lack basic protections for fundamental rights. Counterpart is committed to standing in solidarity with members of the LGBTQ+ community here and around the world in their ongoing struggle against discrimination and injustice. LGBTQ+ rights are human rights and critical to building inclusive, sustainable communities where all people can thrive.

Counterpart respects the beliefs and values of diverse communities and cultures. Sometimes the fundamental beliefs in different cultures and religions might appear to be incompatible.  We believe that all the diverse values and beliefs can cohabitate peacefully when we respect diversity. We strive for communities where everyone’s beliefs are respected and where the safety and wellbeing of individuals is a fundamental right.

For more than 55 years, Counterpart has stood in solidarity with the vulnerable and marginalized, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are protected.  We exist so that all citizens are equally able to secure better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities. We partner with organizations, leaders, and governments around the world to protect and secure the rights of all individuals who suffer discrimination and persecution to have full access to resources and opportunities.

Ending discrimination and violence against members of the LGBTQ+ community demands our continued collective focus and action.  Counterpart is committed to our mission of defending the rights of vulnerable populations around the world and building more equitable, just, and tolerant societies.
