Since Timor-Leste regained its independence in 2002, there remains a need to educate both elected officials and the public about the workings of the current government and justice systems. As a country with many isolated, rural communities, raising awareness and support for village-level governance is vital. The USAID/Timor-Leste NGO Advocacy for Good Governance activity expands upon Timor-Leste’s NGO enabling environment and work to strengthen the organizational, research, networking, and financial capacity for a cohort of Timorese NGOs to provide increased evidence-based, responsive, and sustainable advocacy services on behalf of citizens.
