From 1994 to 2005, Counterpart International (Counterpart) shipped and distributed over $144 million in humanitarian and NGO capacity building equipment and supplies. The program, which assisted the most vulnerable populations, has left a lasting legacy of goodwill and hope to the people of Ukraine. As with our operations within other countries of the former Soviet Union, Counterpart's network of donors enabled us to ship highly valued medical supplies and equipment, clothing, beds and office equipment to individuals and institutions throughout Ukraine.
Small/Medium Transportation Program:
The Small/Medium Transportation Program (SMTP), funded by the US Department of State Office of the Coordinator for the US Assistance to Europe and Eurasia, supports small to medium-sized US nonprofit organizations with transportation assistance to deliver urgently-needed humanitarian aid to vulnerable populations of the former Soviet Union republics. This program, which strives to improve the quality of life of the orphaned, ill, disabled, elderly and poor, is a true "citizen-to-citizen" program that connects organizations in the United States to communities in the NIS countries.
Counterpart's SMTP program works in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
