Our Work
Tourism and Conservation

Counterpart International's Division of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) works to help individuals, communities and governments enhance livelihoods while protecting ecosystems and biodiversity that sustain all life on Earth.

By addressing both the economic needs and natural resource goals of specific communities, Counterpart International (Counterpart) is able to deliver tailored training and assistance. This approach helps communities foster economic development that can be sustained over the long term—and not only preserves, but enhances cultural and natural resources at the same time.

Core Programs:

  • Coral Gardens - Counterpart's innovative initiative to conserve and restore threatened coral reef ecosystems and fisheries while also promoting sustainable tourism.
  • Forest Gardens - Counterpart's trademark agro-forestry system that helps rural communities protect biodiversity, reduce poverty, improve food security and restore degraded tropical forest ecosystems.
  • Sustainable Tourism - Counterpart's groundbreaking approach ensures tourism development is done with the active participation of local communities to revitalize culture, improve health, boost economic development and nurture understanding.
