What We Do
Counterpart International is working to create Tajikistan’s next generation of leaders. Funded by USAID, the four-year Young Leaders Program will focus on preparing socially-conscious and civic-minded young people to contribute to the development of their country.
The program encourages youth to promote positive change in their communities by engaging Tajikistan’s youth and improving the quality of services provided by the government, donors and civil society organizations (CSOs). The Young Leaders Program works in nine rural communities and district centers in the three target regions of Zarafshan Valley, Rasht Valley and Badakhshan. The program identifies, coordinates and collaborates with existing governmental, international and local CSOs working on youth issues in these areas.
Areas of collaboration include working with local CSOs to provide youth trainings and civic education; partnering with local government and community leaders to secure access to public facilities; and liaising with international organizations to access grant funding and additional technical assistance.
