Project Profile
Country: Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan
Cross-Cutting Themes: Humanitarian Assistance
Capabilities: Disaster and Emergency Response, Logistics (Commodity Distribution Management System), Commodity Acquisition, Commodity Distribution/Last-mile Management, IDP and Refugees Assistance,
Counterpart International is often the first responder in disaster situations in the countries we serve, providing critically needed humanitarian items, such as clothing, tents, blankets, food and medical supplies to victims.
Through funding received under CHAP from the United States Department of State, Counterpart maintains prepositioned disaster packages—containing emergency response items including tents, sleeping bags, blankets and medical supplies—in Georgia, Armenia, Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, and we can act immediately through distributions of relief commodities from these supplies in the event of a disaster in the region. We have been called upon on a number of occasions to provide disaster relief commodities to people affected by floods, earthquakes, landslides and conflicts.
In addition to the disaster package distributions, Counterpart often works with private donors, who donate commodities in-kind. Donors may also contribute funds to procure ship and distribute relief.
Our refined acquisition and transportation system, CHAPBASE, allows us to identify, acquire, transport and distribute appropriate emergency assistance quickly to wherever it is needed.
