as he describes the efforts of volunteers and Counterpart International to restore devastated coral reefs. Lirman conducts research at the University of Miami and for Counterpart’s Coral Gardens program. The program, now a decade old, pioneered coral restoration techniques and provides hope that the degradation of corals can be reversed not only through scientific research but through volunteerism and education, as well.
