IDP and Refugees Assistance
Counterpart International provides assistance to internally displaced people (IDP), refugees and victims of recent complex emergencies, wars and civil conflicts. The assistance ranges from relief activities following the population displacement to infrastructural assistance to collective centers, schools, and clinics to mid and long-term IDP and refugee community support.
Where it has country presence, Counterpart participates in the national emergency coordination mechanisms where international donors collaborate under UN leadership. When emergency strikes leading to population displacement, Counterpart actively participates in UN-led clusters such as emergency shelter and non-food item distribution clusters. It also collaborates with U.S. government agencies including the U.S. Department of State and Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) to provide assistance to IDPs and refugees. Counterpart has a successful history of managing airlifts, pre-staged disaster packages, OFDA emergency projects and long-term humanitarian projects to provide needs-based life-saving assistance to the displaced.
