What Your Donation Can Do:

$10 provides 2 hygiene kits (towel, soap, toothbrush, etc.) to affected families.

 

$25 provides baby formula to a child for one week.


$50 provides one basic meal to a family of four for 3 days.


$250 provides 6 sleeping sets (warm blanket, sleeping mat, pillow and sheets).


$500 provides 50 hospital patients with essential medicines and a hot meal for one day.


$10,000 ships one 40 foot container of 31,000 hygiene kits or rehabilitates a damaged school.

 

Kyrgyzstan in Crisis

 

Counterpart responded to the violence in southern Kyrgyzstan that left nearly 400 people dead and more than 400,000 homeless. The death toll is feared to be much higher than currently estimated.

 

To date, Counterpart has distributed more than $3.5 million to victims of the crisis.

  • In response to the thousands in need in southern Kyrgyzstan, Counterpart International's humanitarian assistance program released U.S. State Department-funded disaster relief packages valued at more than $200,000 to Osh and Jalal-bad, the main areas of conflict. The distributed supplies include medical supplies, surgical instruments, folding litters, towels, bedding, clothing, footwear and food.  Learn More>>
  • Two 40-foot containers of clothing footwear, bedding, and hygiene supplies, valued at  more than $200,000 arrived in the area one week after the violence.
  • Funds raised through an online appeal and from individuals seeking to help were used to locally purchase more than 110 food packages and 136 baby formula packages which were distributed last week to those affected by the crisis.
  • Counterpart offloaded and distributed a Department of State Humanitarian Medical Air Shipment, valued at $2.75 million, filled with medicines and medical supplies to local hospitals in Osh. 
  • Thanks to a $700,000 donation from United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), Counterpart has shipped two containers of hygiene kits, one to Osh and the other to Jalal-Abad.

Counterpart has been active in the Kyrgyz Republic since 1996. Today, after nearly 14 years of working in partnership with the Kyrgyz people to rebuild, develop and transform communities, more than 593 containers of humanitarian assistance—valued at approximately $85 million and containing food, shelter, medical supplies, clothing and other basic necessities—have been delivered. These distributions were made with the help of more than 863 governmental and non-governmental institutions in all seven Oblasts of the Kyrgyz Republic.
