Our Team
Since our founding in 1965 as the Foundation for the Peoples of the South Pacific, we have been a leader in community-driven development. From those early successes, we were invited by USAID in the 1990s to transfer our programmatic approach to the former Soviet Union and became Counterpart International (Counterpart) with a new focus on building civil society—and "counterpart" development organizations. From there we expanded our work to Africa, Central America and the Caribbean.
Our success can always be attributed to the talent and commitment of our diverse team. Currently operating in 25 countries, the expertise of our 350 staff encompass humanitarian aid and relief assistance, health care, democracy and governance, natural resource management and feeding the impoverished.
Our Board of Directors is made up of individuals from across the business and philanthropic sectors.
Each of our divisions is led and staffed by dedicated and skilled individuals who are committed to empowering vulnerable people to implement innovative, holistic and enduring solutions to social, economic and environmental challenges.
